Why our Souls Hunger for Sacred Splendor

Beauty is the splendor of truth. Should not ever dimension of a church reflect the Splendor of the Lord? Beauty is a gift for God and a reflection of His love for us. It is not present only for the sake of the elevation of our worship, but is also a reflection that worship is a gift for us.

Aquinas tells us that God is not just beautiful, but is Beauty itself. Thus, that which is beautiful should help lead one towards the Lord. Beauty is sensual and is a tool to aid our senses to the Lord. He desires us to enjoy His Splendor.
