St Michael’s Ceiling Project

Watercolor Design,

Example of Saint in Clouds worshiping Christ in the Sanctuary

This proposal seeks to beatify the ceiling of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. This design compliments the architecture and already existing artwork of the church. It draws parishioner’s attention upwards towards the heavens and forwards towards the sacrifice of the mass. The clouds in the archways connect to the clouds in the sanctuary. The Saints lead by example by prayerfully focusing on Christ. Ultimately this design works to encourage parishioners to remember the afterlife and how to live their life in anticipation this by relationship with Jesus.

The stars in the dark blue sky have been redesigned as fleur de lis, which symbolize not only purity, light, virtue, and beauty, but it also represents the Virgin mark and the three petals represent the Trinity.

The columns in the church are currently a beige color without much interest. We seek to beautify the church more by painting them the color of Carrara marble.

Album Cover for Christian Lingner’s Hold Me single released in 2024

I was overjoyed when Christian Lingner asked me to design this album cover art for his latest release. I have long enjoyed listening to his poetic storytelling lyrics while I made art. His work has a mastery of craft and a commitment to truth that both sooths and enlivens the soul. He described loosely what he wanted in the album art and while on the phone I sent him a couple minute drafts to put images to words. I made a more refined draft which he liked and helped him to better define the direction he wanted. After this I worked on a final draft which we both ended up loving. It has always been a childhood dream to make the album cover art for music that I love. Thanks for the opportunity Christian!

Album Cover for Very Very Hot Evil’s Seraphim Album released in 2022

I remember the first time I saw Very Very Hot Evil preform. It was at the Pilot Light in downtown Knoxville Tennessee during the Big Ears music festival. Despite being a relatively unknown artist at this major avant-garde music event he won best in show at the festival for me. He sang with moving drama and his fingers crashed and danced on the piano with true mastery of craft. Similar to Hendrix playing the guitar above his head Paul was one with his instrument. I approached him as a true fan boy. Not long after that our paths continued to cross and we because good friends.

Paul wanted a classical looking drawing of a man and woman angel. he described the backstory to his ideas. I made several different drafts until the image in his mind came to light. After that I set to work making it art. Although this classical style has been circling back around for millennia one of the most common compliments he received after publishing the album was how unique the artwork was.

Chaste Heart of Joseph, graphite on paper

Hearts of the Holy Family, graphite on paper

These are tattoo designs to help a client know what they might get done. They wanted a design for the Chaste Heart of Joseph and one for the Holy Family. The Sacred heart uses lilies wrapped around the heart to symbolize joseph’s. On the second image roses symbolize Mary’s purity and the rosary. The sword symbolizes her sorrow for her son Jesus. The crown of thorns and cross on the middle heart call to mind Christ’s crucifixion. On the last heart the lilies of Joseph wrap around all three hearts showing his love.

Process

Every great artwork begins with a conversation. We figure out the vision and its goals then we begin the project. The project progresses through a series checkpoints to ensure the vision discussed is becoming a reality.

  1. Discuss project - Free

  2. Complete thumbnail designs - Starting cost (subtracted from total at project’s completion)

  3. Large drawing - 1/3 total cost

  4. Mid-point of painting - 1/3 total cost

  5. completion of painting - 1/3 total cost

Pricing

The cost is determined after discussing the project. Typically this changes depending on number of figures or objects, medium, and size. If the client changes their mind after having agreed to move forward there is a redesign cost, which varies depending on the alteration(s) and how soon they addressed it.
