Murals

Landscape with the Flight into Egypt by Pieter Bruegel the Elder

Great Hearts Northern Oaks Mural

This public charter school hired me in 2022 to beatify their conference room. Before it had a bland white wall which made the space feel claustrophobic. The mural was meant to bring joy and wonder into the room. Before painting the administration and I decided on a masterwork (see above) to base the painting on. I made a watercolor sketch and then I started painting. It took me two days and was a blast!

Great Hearts Live Oaks Mural

After Live Oaks charter school heard about my mural at Northern Oaks they contacted me for a mural for them. This one was based off of a couple of other paintings with the idea that I added an Owl because that is their mascot. I enjoyed blending the wet paint together on this one in particular. It took about three days to complete.

Mural for the Visitor’s Center of Grand Forks North Dakota

I completed this fun surreal/pop art style mural when I was in undergrad. The Visitor Center wanted a mural to beatify metal doors covering up dumpsters on their building. As seen up above I designed the composition and then we used photoshop to nail down the color that worked best for their building. I used forks as a pun for the Grand Forks name of the city which is referencing the fork in the Red River.

Mastercopy

I was commissioned to make a master copy of this famous painting by John Everett Millais. I was excited to try my skills at copying another artist’s work. Often thought of as Millais’s masterwork, The Blind Girl, is packed with detail. He worked on it for over two years and brought it with him as he moved countries. I learned a lot by mimicking him and seeing how he made his brush strokes. I was particularly impressed by his copious detail in the background whereas the clothes on the women in the front are relatively loosely painted. If you’d like a mastercopy fill out the form below!
